Please join the San Francisco Shared Schoolyard Project Saturday, October 17 from 11 am to 1 pm at Spring Valley Elementary School for an exciting kick-off celebration marking the opening of the school playground on weekends.
This exciting event will include games from the Chinatown YMCA, a visit from the local fire department, a cooking demo from the American Heart Association, a raffle for tickets to the Academy of Sciences, and much more! A free lunch catered by El Taquero will also be provided.

Who: Neighbors, Parents, Kids, and Supervisors Mark Farrell and Julie Christensen
What: Free lunch, family and kids activities, and a ribbon cutting ceremony
Where: Spring Valley Elementary School, 1451 Jackson St. (Entrance on Washington)
When: Saturday, October 17, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
Why: Join us as we cut the ribbon to open our neighborhood schoolyard on weekends!

About the project: The San Francisco Shared Schoolyard Project aims to provide a safe, clean space for the city’s children and families to play and gather. With 28 public schools enrolled and interest continuing to grow, community members will play a central role in in helping this program succeed. Give your support for the program and sign up to volunteer (http://www.sfsharedschoolyard.org/sign_up) at our next event.
The next SDA meeting will be on Wednesday, October 21 @ 3:00 p.m - 4:00 p.m. at Burk Hall 237. We have invited Heather Pavlik, RD, to speak at this event. She currently works at Zesty, a San Francisco startup company, and has her own blog - The Dietitian Kitchen. Come hear about alternative careers, besides clinical, in the field of dietetics.
